Building & styling your map

Once your points are on the map, the Style panel controls how they look. Mapize starts with a sensible default — it color-codes by a likely category, fits the view to your data, clusters dense areas, and adds a legend — and you tune from there.

Style controls

• Color by a column — use a single color, one color per category value with palette and per-value controls, or a numeric color scale.
• Size by a numeric column, so larger values produce larger markers.
• Marker shape — pin, solid pin, circle, square, diamond, triangle, star, or hexagon, in small, medium, or large.
• Basemap — Light, Dark, Minimal, Muted, Contrast, or Satellite. The five vector basemaps are available on every plan; Satellite requires a paid plan.
• Cluster nearby points — groups dense pins into counts. It turns on automatically past roughly 400 points and can be toggled.
• Heat map — renders density instead of pins and can be weighted by a numeric column.
• Legend — show or hide it.

Filtering

Add one or more filters to show only the points you care about. Available conditions depend on the column type. Text supports is, is not, is any of, contains, is empty, and is not empty. Numbers support at least, at most, between, and is empty. A live Showing X of Y points count updates as you filter.

On the map

• Popups — click a marker to see its title and selected fields. Approximate locations are labeled.
• Clusters — click to zoom in and expand them.
• Zoom, reset view, and locate controls sit on the map.
• Pan and zoom are remembered — where you leave the map is where it opens for viewers, unless fit to data remains enabled.
