Excel is one of the most commonly used spreadsheet software, a powerful one but can also be very complex for some users. Use Mapize to import location data from Excel and generate a personalized map of places you are interested in or would like to recommend to others.
- Input location data, such as addresses, street names, cities, and zip codes on Excel.
- The more location data you have, the more defined the map will be.
- Share your generated map with family, friends, colleagues, or website visitors.
Here’s how you can make your own map:
- Using Excel, prepare your data sheet. Make sure to create separate columns for the different location data categories you have i.e., cities, zip codes, states, area codes, etc. These categories will also serve as the column headers. But even if you don’t organize your data this way, Mapize’s intelligent map-making technology can sort them out for you. Your spreadsheet will look like this:
- From the Excel sheet, select all the data (including the headers) and copy and paste them into Mapize’s map-making tool; or you can also select the file from your drive, as shown below:
- Click on “Create Map.” You will then be routed to the configuration where you geo decode and customize your map depending on your specification and needs.
- Click on “Make Map”. If you still want to make some changes, you can do so by opening the Configuration section on the side of the map. You can Geo Decode, Preview Map and even Customize your map, otherwise, click on “Save Map + Continue”.
- The last step would be to add a title and the email address where you want to receive the unique link of your map and the short code should you want to embed the map on other websites. You can also add some notes and select the method of saving, whether its Public, Unlisted or Password Protected. Click on “Save Map”.
View And Share Your Map
- The Mapize email you receive will contain a link address to your map.
- Simply share this link with anyone you like, through emails, instant messaging, or social media.
- The email will also contain an HTML snippet code which you can embed into your website so that your site visitors can have interactive access to your map.
- You will also be given a KML file version of your map which you can use to view your map using Google Earth.
